American Thanksgiving (just called 'Thanksgiving') is the biggest holiday in the United States. Many other American holidays have a religious aspect, so only some participate. However, Thanksgiving is about giving thanks, being thankful for what you have, and spending time with family and friends.
The holiday revolves around a 'Thanksgiving dinner,' a big meal typically held between 2pm to 7pm, depending on the family's plan for the day.
The dinner traditionally consists of traditional foods and dishes such as turkey, mashed potatoes & gravy, stuffing, squash/yams/sweet potatoes, corn, green beans, cranberries (sauce for the turkey), bread rolls, and pumpkin pie.
Other traditions of Thanksgiving include:
Volunteering to feed the homeless.
Watching the Macy's Day parade in New York City on TV.
American sports – watching/attending NFL football or NBA basketball
Plan or start your Black Friday shopping.
